From Emergency Callout to New Baxi Boiler

The emergency callout

At approximately 3:30 to 3:45 in the morning, Can Do Plumbing attended an emergency callout following reports of a burst pipe.

Further investigation identified a fault with the existing Ariston boiler's pressure relief valve. The valve was failing to release excessive system pressure as intended.

This raised concerns about the boiler's safe and reliable operation.

Repair or replace?

We assessed the condition of the existing boiler and the cost of the components required for repair.

Given its age and the anticipated repair costs, we concluded that repairing the existing appliance would not be economically worthwhile.

We explained the options and recommended a replacement rather than an expensive repair to an ageing boiler.

Following approval, the customer chose a Baxi 400, 24 kilowatt combination boiler.

Installing the new Baxi boiler

With the working area prepared, we removed the existing Ariston boiler and installed the new Baxi 400 combination boiler.

The installation included connecting the replacement appliance and carrying out the necessary testing and commissioning checks.

Testing and commissioning

A boiler installation isn't complete simply because the new appliance has been fitted.

We carried out gas tightness tests before and after the installation, took combustion readings, checked operating pressures, and measured the central heating flow and return temperatures.

These checks are an essential part of assessing the installation and the boiler's operation.

The finished result was a newly installed Baxi 400, 24 kilowatt combination boiler, replacing an ageing Ariston appliance following an unexpected emergency.
